As a fresh graduate, have you ever wondered which one of these is better? Passion or Penny? Chasing dreams or chasing money? Then you must also be thinking: Is it better to work for passion or high salary?

Well, actually there is no sacred answer for this question. It depends on the condition and situation. No right or wrong answer if you choose money or otherwise. However, as a young professional who has been working for almost 1,5 years in HR field, I am going to give you an advice from my side. I hope some of you who are still in the middle of the crossroad, finally will find the way.

First of all, let’s talk about passion. What is passion?

According to dictionary, passion (read: pas·sion (n) ) is when you put more energy into something than is required to do it. It is more than just enthusiasm or excitement, passion is ambition that is materialized into action to put as much heart, mind body and soul into something as is possible.

Passion is something that you do with a big excitement. You do it because you like it. No one forces you to do that, but you still doing it happily. That’s passion. Have you found your passion? Mine is transforming ideas into creativity. How about you?

However, some people might be mistaken what passion is. Passion is desire to live our life, because we do something that we like and it gives us fuel to continue living. Passion and hobby isn’t the same.

Talking about job or career, at first some of you may not know whether the job is your passion or not. Not until you try and find that it is your passion — something that giving you energy to continue living. Your job is your passion when you will continue to pursue it despite what it may cost you.

And what about penny? Isn’t that important?

Well, we know that we all work for penny — or money, but as a fresh or recent graduate from university with limited or even no job history, experience is much more important.

Here is my major tips for you, the recent graduates. Instead of deciding between 2 companies that offers passion or penny, go find a job that will enable you to learn a lot, experience more, and be an expert in your field.

At the end, you will find what your passion is.

And once you are enriched with experience and knowledge, penny will follow you.

Good luck, y’all!
